I Can Help With Your DUI Defense
Seeing red and blue lights in your rear-view mirror is never a good feeling, especially if there is a chance you are looking at charges for drunk driving. If you are facing charges for suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI) in California, you are up against some of the strictest laws in the nation. I am Jorge A. Pichardo Jr., Attorney At Law, and my Fairfield-based firm can help you understand how these laws can impact your case and work with you on your defense.
You may be contending with charges for DUI if your blood alcohol content (BAC) is .08% or higher. BAC testing can be done through five different samples, including breath and blood. These are the most common testing methods, and I can help you challenge the results of them.
Breathalyzer machines are subject to testing on a routine basis to check for proper calibration. I can examine those maintenance records and see if the testing device in your case has been on a suitable maintenance schedule.
There are other defenses to a DUI case, and I will work to see if any of them apply in your case.
Understanding The Penalties You Face
If this is your first DUI offense, you can still be looking at harsh penalties, including fines, jail time, possible license suspension and completion of an alcohol education program. Your license is subject to automatic revocation or suspension if your DUI charges include other factors such as:
- BAC test refusal
- Registering a BAC of .01% while on probation
You could be contending with a license suspension even without one of these aggravating factors. Call my office as soon as possible after an arrest for suspicion of drunk driving at 800-626-7041.
